Preparing for summer guests

Do you ever have one of those days when you have a mile-long list of things to do, but you can't motivate yourself to check off one? Well, today is one of those days for me. And how freeing it is to be able to confess this to my bloggy buddies. The day started early--breakfast at Dine In, a cute little diner in Pineville where everyone knows each other; went to Sam's Club to load up on chips, cookies, and junk food for our Swedish friends who arrive on Friday--golly, I hope they're not health food nuts; spent an hour putting everything away, then took off for CVC, the cleaners, the bookstore, Office Depot.
...okay, now I'm glad to be writing this--it shows me that I accomplished more than I gave myself credit for. But I'm looking around and there is still a house to be cleaned. Can't clean tomorrow--I have to get my blood work done, then off to the hairdresser--that'll take most of my day. I'm making excuses. The truth is, I have summer fever. You can't lift a dust mop with it, or swiffer the floors. But I know myself too well. I'll ignore the fever, and the 3,500 square foot house--including 4 toilets!!-- will shine by the time the four mighty Swedes arrive. Don't we all come to our own rescue? And we'll continue to do so.
Now I must close. From out of nowhere, the fever has left. My energy level is rising. As women, you know what that means. I'll get to work until the fever returns. Have a nice evening.
Oceans of blessings, Sharron (pic of me in Belize doing absolutely nothing)

P.S. This wasn't written to make any profound statement. By writing, I'm accomplishing something. So, my word for you today: do something you enjoy--then you too will feel like you've accomplished something, even if it's for only 10 minutes.

That's why I like to make lists, so I feel like I've accomplished something!
I also do 10 minutes of cleaning, in one minute increments. Oh well!

Debra, I like your way of cleaning. I'm going to try it soon.

Sounds a bit like me today! I'm facing an afternoon of web design and, even better, writing - but at this moment motivation is taunting me from across the room. Better go catch it before it vanishes entirely!

Like fireflies, motivation can be hard to catch!

Great tips! I think you are right, enjoying friends company is a priority...sometimes gets lost in the preparation of things. Hmmm, reminds me of the Mary & Martha story...
