NEW Book Release! Lady on the Run is published!

Lady on the Run is now published!

Rosie ... on the Run!
(the cover tells a story)

My journey to have my latest novel published
has been a long one, but so rewarding in many ways.
I compare it to running a marathon and finally crossing the finish line!

I have learned (over and over)
the importance of God's timing.
In fact, He gave me the last sentence of the book
the night before I was to have my manuscript formatted!

A little history of this story ...

I wrote Lady on the Run in the 70's as a non-fiction,
but due to several 'life-happenings'
I tossed my manuscript in a box ... until a few years ago.
As I sat and re-read the forty-some-year-old typed pages
I knew the story would become a novel.

That's when Rosie's journey began ....

Lake Tahoe 1977

Rosie's running days began in the mid-70's.
Years before she traveled the world,
Rosie was a stay-at-home Mom
who by happenstance became an avid runner.
Her inspiring story will find you laughing on one page,
perhaps crying on the next,
and like Rosie, challenging you personally to ask,
What am I running from?
and more important,
What am I running to?

If you're already into health, fitness, and fun,
or thinking about health, fitness, and fun*,
or would rather just read about health, fitness, and fun,
then Lady on the Run is for you.
(*A Ladies on the Run Handbook in the back of book)

Here is one of several reviews:
"Sharon Leaf's 40 years of running experience, quirky characters, and engaging story produce a book guaranteed to motivate, educate, and entertain.  Lady on the Run will inspire wanna-be runners to take their first steps toward physical (and spiritual) health.  Those who already run will be challenged to set new goals and  train not just for running their physical races, but for running their spiritual race--at their own pace!"

Lady Traveler is Home

Alone, but not forgotten!

... lay aside every weight (fear, anxiety)
and any sin that does easily beset us,
and let us run with patience
the race that is set before us!

Hebrews 12:1

Everyone is talking about it,
writing about it,
and praying about it
while we are in shelter-in-place/lock-down mode in our homes.
Not just in our town,
or our state,
or the USA,
but the whole world!

Never have we been through such a challenging time.
Yes, there was WW1, WWII, many wars.
But this is a different kind of war.
I won't go into any details about the
Coronavirus
(I know how to spell it because of the famous beer)
but this pandemic started in China
and quickly spread throughout the earth.
But in your hours at home,
I'm sure you have researched the details
that come out moment by moment.

It is definitely a new day.
A new world.
A new way of life.
A new world order, as many are calling it.
The Bible speaks of the 'last days'
but who knew we would actually live to experience them?

Remember ...
This is an emotional war.
Many are fearful. Stressful.
Anxious. Depressed.
Sad, but true.

REMEMBER ...
This is also a spiritual war. We must be
Fearless.  Steady.
Praying.
Ready for battle against our enemy.

His name is Satan, you know.

Emotions are running wild.
At the same time,
the warriors in the army
of the Most High God
stand with their armor on.
Don't worry,
this is not a 'shoot em up!' kind of war.
This is praying, standing,
and running toward, not away
from the days ahead.

Of course I experience fear and anxiety.
We are all human.
But it is our choice where we choose to live:
in fear, or in faith.

Choose today who you will serve.
The end times are drawing close.
Be prepared for the exciting days ahead,
when we can see the Hand of the Lord.

TIP: Stay away from the main-stream-media (MSM).
I have tried over and over to watch my once favorite
TV stations ... ABC, NBC, CBS.
Just won't waste my time anymore.
They promote fear and division.

Instead,
open your Bible and read.
I won't quote scripture because
I want you to do some searching for yourself.
I will close with a 'praise report' regarding my sweet brother John:
He just finished his second immunology treatment.
He's feeling good (pain has subsided)
and my sis-in-law Ger told me yesterday that his
appetite has returned.
(he's down to 169 pounds from 185)
Thank you for your prayers!
We're believing for a miracle!

Read Psalm 91 for comfort,
then read,

The Lord is my Shepherd
I shall not want ...
... though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
for thou art with me,
thy rod and they staff, they comfort me ...
Psalm 23

I wish you oceans of comforting blessings!

And remember, whether near or far,
Keep reading and keep that body movin'!

To wRiters, tRavelers, and Runners #walkeRs out there in Lady Leaf Land ...

To wRiters, tRavelers, and Runners #walkeRs out there in Lady Leaf Land ...

A safe-sorta-sunny harbor day in Ventura, CA 2018

I'm loving my time at Leaf's Lake House,
but a touch of cabin fever was beginning to settle in.
Not to complain but ...
so much rain ... too cold.
Then just in time, it's time for
The Carolina Christian Writers Conference!

Two days hanging with
fellow writers, friends,
gifted speakers, editors, and authors
left me inspired to continue my writing journey.
Mostly.

I admit there were moments I caught myself thinking,
What are you doing here?
What makes you think you can write?
You still have SO much to learn.
All the negatives that haunt the writer
loom around every corner,
waiting to tear you down,
shred any confidence you may have
in your writing skills.
So I wait for those profound words
that will drive me to keep typing on,
forging me ahead to finish
that article, that blog, THE BOOK.

The words come from the guest speaker.
She softly says,
Reclaim your time, your activities.
Shed distractions.
Be still in your calling, your purpose, your anchor.
Choose rest.
Create and honor a sacred place of prayer, meditation, and rest.

Ahh.
Such kind words.  Wise words.
So much better than all the worrying and negative thoughts
that invade our minds each time we receive yet another
Rejection letter.

On Lady Leaf's Loft wall as a reminder to ... Type! Type!! Type!!!

The last moments of the conference
gave me a very positive meeting with a
major representative from a trad-publishing company
regarding my manuscript, Lady on the Run.
Another Ahh.

There is light at the end of the writing tunnel.
I am called of God to write.
It all shall come to pass in God's timing, not mine.
I'm again inspired to write on!

Your angel is running with you!
Drawing from my original '70s Lady on the Run manuscript

In the meantime,
What Now?
This RED (Retired-Extremely-Daring) lady continues to
venture to the gym, walking with the international Run 4 God group,
and head out my door for the invigorating power walks.
Living healthy is keeping our bodies moving---at our own pace.
And to plan the next tRavel tRip to ....

I wish you oceans of wRiting, Running #walking, and tRavel blessings!

Let us run with patience the race that is set before us--at our own pace!
