~ God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way, grace for the trials, help from above, unfailing sympathy, undying love. ~ This week's 7.0 earthquake in Haiti has left over a hundred thousand dead, and thousands more begging for medical treatment, food, water, shelter. There should be no complaining on the lips of Americans this week, or ever. We are blessed beyond measure. Even those with no jobs have access to water and food. Anyone can walk into an emergency room and get the treatment they need, with or without insurance.
It's a time for prayer, and a time to reach in our pockets to give, even if it's only $5.00. There are many good causes--Samaritan's Purse, Friend Ships, Red Cross. Even Aunt Eunice is taking 1 percent of her cosmetic proceeds to give to a charity. ~ Let us count our own blessings, and at the same time remember those in need, in Haiti, and in our own neighborhood. Isaiah 42:16: Then I will lead the blind along a way they never knew...I will make the darkness become a light for them, and the rough ground smooth.
My friends, Julie Langaker, Mary Lou McGroggan, and Bryan Mehr, are leaving immediately for Haiti. Our prayer are with all who are sacrificing their comfort to reach out to those in need.
